What a whirlwind the past few weeks have been. First, I am beyond thankful to every one of you who attended my release show. I felt genuinely seen and heard, as I walked out on stage in my pink dress holding a glass of champagne. One of the things that stood out to me was the fact that the songs touched each of you in different ways. How different lyrics found a unique echo in each person.
My favorite compliment from that night was, "I want to take my daughter to see you play." Mind blown. What a powerful compliment and a testament to what I set out to accomplish. I wanted to prove to myself that I have a voice, an identity, a power that deserves to be showcased.
Standing in my kitchen, hearing "Honeymoon" on the local (incredibly cool) radio station 89.3 The Current this Sunday was unforgettable.
This was the first time I have heard myself on the airwaves! My 18 year old self would have been so proud if I had told her at 38 years old her song would be on the radio. (I might have wondered, what took so long?? ..but that doesn't matter right. It's never too late.)
Request Honeymoon on the radio
The best thing you can do to help me? It's totally free. I encourage you to request "Honeymoon" on The Current. Your support is what helps my music reach new ears, and every request truly counts!
So, what's next?
Promoting an album is a marathon, I'm realizing. 😅 I'll admit I have a bit of a vulnerability hangover from baring my soul at the show. And I still have so much to share and promote. This is where the marketing comes in. My vow to myself
was that I'd spend as much effort promoting this record as I did writing and recording it. Whew, it's not easy to promote yourself. As women in the Midwest especially, we're taught to be humble and appropriate. So shouting from the rooftops that I have things to sing about, and I want you to hear it: I have to dig deep. But I am doing it, maybe imperfectly, but I'm not stopping.
Upcoming shows!
â—† August 30th: Hyland Hills Ski Area in their outdoor patio area from 5pm - 7pm. Enjoy music in the sun
